Conference Program and Schedule*

The Technical Program Committee, led by co-chairs Jennifer E. Nicks, Ph.D., P.E. of the U.S. Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), and Gregg V. Piazza, P.E. of GeoStructures, Inc., developed an innovative schedule of programs that illuminates the People. Purpose. Passion. theme.

This unique event provides an international forum for a wide range of geo-professionals to present, discuss, and debate technical topics related cutting-edge technologies for deep foundations, deep excavation support, and ground improvement. Presentations and discussions on challenging national and international case histories; how industry influences government guidelines and specifications; the effective use of site characterization methods, geophysics and instrumentation; debates on the use of geotechnical baseline reports for foundation projects, presentations on experimental research; discussion on business aspects of the deep foundations industry; and a celebration of the influential families in the business; plus much more. View the Conference Program Here.

 

Hal Hunt Lecture on Communication

The Hal Hunt Lecture was established in 1989 to recognize notable communicators in the Deep Foundations Industry. The Lecture was named in honor of Hal W. Hunt, one of the initial organizers of DFI.

This year’s Hal Hunt Lecture on Communications was presented by Michael Sherman, Director of Policy and Research with the National Capital Planning Commission (NCPC). Who delivered a talk titled An Overview of the Federal Commemorative Works Process in Washington, DC. Find out more.

Young Professor and Student Paper Competitions

Each year the Deep Foundations Institute Educational Trust hosts Young Professor and Student paper competitions for those studying in the fields of engineering, construction and geological sciences. The authors of the winning papers presented at the conference.  The 2020 winners receive free conference registration and library of up to 20 printed DFI Publications and a complimentary two-year full Individual Membership in DFI.
