The SuperPile 2020 virtual conference includes two half-day sessions of online presentations comprising two panel discussions and six industry presentations on some of the most contemporary foundation topics.

Day One: On Thursday, June 18, the conference opens with geotechnical and legal experts discussing the meaning, benefits, and challenges of using a Geotechnical Baseline Report (GBR) for foundation projects. GBRs were developed for and are used mainly for tunneling and underground structures, and this panel will discuss their potential use in preventing or resolving disputes for foundation projects.

By registering and/or participating in a DFI event/activity, the persons whose images are captured during such an event consent to the use of said images by DFI as described above.

The industry presentations will highlight new design approaches and practical construction issues.

Day Two: Friday, June 19, kicks off with three industry presentations on key construction and testing topics. The conference will conclude with the presentation Horses for Courses: a panel discussion on foundation and integrity testing methods. The phrase “horses for courses” reflects how different things are suited to different situations. A wide range of load and integrity testing methods are applied for foundation testing; however, not every method is suitable for every foundation test. This panel will explore the features, limitations, and appropriate use of static load testing as compared to bi-directional load testing, and low strain dynamic testing as compared to thermal integrity profiling. An extensive Q&A will help deepen participants' understanding of the methods.

DFI's Women in Deep Foundations Committee will launch their new video, "What is the geotechnical field?" The dynamic and engaging DFI members featured in this video showcase the field from the office to project sites and through the many roles available in the geotechnics, including designing, supplying specialty equipment, managing, constructing, and more.

Virtual SuperPile ’20 will gather design professionals, engineers, contractors, researchers, material and equipment suppliers, and government agencies involved in the design, construction and research of piling solutions for foundations, excavation support and slope stabilization.
