Anyone in school IT knows technology has changed more in the last five years than in the decades before, and 911 centers are no exception. Many are moving from analog phone lines to Next Generation 911 (NG911), an IP-based system that can receive more than voice calls. Depending on how a school and its local 911 center are set up, that can include panic alerts, location details, floor plans, emergency contacts, and in some cases live video. This session explains how NG911 works, what information schools can share with their local 911 center, and what dispatchers actually see on their end. We'll cover where district IT fits in, from network readiness to keeping building data accurate. Attendees will leave with practical questions to ask their 911 center and solution providers.
