Description

How are teachers improving their pedagogy, assignment types, and assessment formats to maintain the fidelity of learning and assessment in a post-AI world? Teachers of all subjects are now having to approach pedagogy and assessment in entirely new ways in order to either integrate AI as an ethical and effective learning tool or skirt student use of this technology altogether in an effort to maintain the fidelity of our pedagogy and assessment–to maintain the fidelity of what it even means to learn in the first place. With AI tools all the rage, how can teachers improve their pedagogy and assessment practices?

This session will address how teachers of all subjects can improve their practice as educators in order to re-envision how pedagogy and assessment work in a post-AI world and maintain learning fidelity. For example, we aren't teaching in a world where multiple choice tests can be said to accurately assess learning for students who simultaneously have access to AI tools. Math teachers haven't been in the same teaching “era” since the advent of tools like Wolfram Alpha that can solve math problems step-by-step. We are not teaching in a world where even an in-class, handwritten essay can serve as definitive evidence that a student has learned a particular material or skill. This is the post-AI world of Education.

In this session, I’ll address how various technology tools, like Google Docs chrome extensions, and teaching/assessment strategies can be leveraged in a post-AI world to help teachers rethink and re-shape our practice toward maintaining the fidelity of classroom learning. Now that AI is here–and here to stay–I invite all teachers to come learn and converse about how to improve our pedagogical and assessment practices.

By the end of the session, we will cover how various teaching and assessment strategies (coupled with a variety of technology tools) can help you improve your teaching practice in any area in a post-AI world, ranging from vocabulary instruction in the ELA classroom to geometry instruction in the Math classroom.
