Schools are collecting more data than ever before—from attendance and assessments to staff credentials and student demographics—but how often do we stop to ask what we’re collecting, where it’s going, and who has access to it? In this session, participants will walk through the process of creating a data inventory: identifying data sources, tracking data flows across systems (like state databases, vendor platforms, and third-party tools), and documenting access points. Understanding your data landscape is essential not only for compliance and privacy, but also for improving efficiency, reducing redundancy, and making smarter decisions about tools, policies, and practices.
