Dementia is a common diagnosis and has influenced the lives of 6% to 10% of older adults (over the age of 65 years or older) (Chapman et al. 2006). Medical environments present unique challenges to individuals with dementia and their caregivers. The complex context in which care occurs can further confuse patients with dementia. This presentation seeks to explain updated literature related to the care and high-impact approaches to support their medical needs safely.
