Optometrists often co-manage patients with that have systemic conditions being treated with Plaquenil (hydroxychloroquine). Guidelines are updated very few years as new knowledge and technology is applied in efforts to identify patients at highest risk for retinal toxicity earlier in the disease process than in the past. This lecture is designed to review old concepts as well as new approaches in the management of these patients per the 2025 AAO updated guidelines.
