Description

Many nonprofit organizations invest heavily in training, compliance, and onboarding — yet struggle with leadership pipeline gaps, succession risk, and reactive hiring. This session introduces nonprofit executives to the foundational concepts of talent management strategy and explains why moving beyond a training model is essential for long-term sustainability.
Participants will learn the difference between training and talent management, explore key frameworks such as Build–Buy–Borrow–BOT and the 70–20–10 development model, and understand how workforce planning, succession planning, and leadership development connect to organizational resilience. The session provides practical language, definitions, and implementation considerations to help leaders begin thinking strategically about internal capacity building.
This presentation is designed for executives who may be new to talent management concepts and are seeking clear, actionable guidance without excessive technical jargon.
