Across the country, providers are seeing a growing number of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who also experience significant mental health needs. Yet the systems designed to support them often remain fragmented. IDD services and behavioral health services continue to operate in parallel rather than together, leaving providers, clinicians, and families navigating gaps in care.
This fireside conversation will explore what it will take to move toward a more integrated future. Together we will examine the realities leaders are facing today: increasing clinical complexity, workforce challenges, limited access to behavioral health expertise, and funding systems that were not built for co-occurring needs.
Rather than focusing on one model or solution, this discussion will center on practical leadership questions. How can organizations expand their knowledge, skill, and clinical capacity within their teams? What role can technology, clinical partnerships, and new infrastructure play in supporting people with both IDD and mental health needs? And how do we ensure that innovation remains grounded in person-centered and trauma-informed principles?
