Trent McCormick has worked in public education in some form or fashion for 35 years. He currently serves as superintendent at Peru Community Schools in Miami County. McCormick brings experience from both inside and outside of the field of education. After graduating from Ball State University with a B.S. in biology (’91), he spent 15 years working as an environmental scientist with the Muncie Bureau of Water Quality, MSD.  After transitioning to the field of education in 2006, McCormick was a middle school and high school science teacher for 12 years for Yorktown Community Schools and one year at MSD Decatur Township before landing his first administrative position in Covington, IN. Notably, McCormick was the head varsity wrestling coach at Yorktown High School for 30 years (1988-2018).
