In classrooms around the world, a growing debate is taking center stage: Has technology gone too far? While some call for removing devices entirely, others push for deeper integration. But what if the real answer isn’t either extreme?
This session challenges the false dichotomy of “tech vs. no tech” and instead explores how educators can strike a thoughtful balance—leveraging the power and impact of effective technology to personalize, extend, and transform learning while preserving the human connection at the heart of education.
Grounded in neuroscience, classroom practice, and emerging AI capabilities, participants will examine how the brain learns best and how technology can either support or hinder those processes. Through the lens of our AweFull Learning framework, in partnership with UDL principles, we’ll explore how curiosity, connection, and meaningful experiences must guide decisions about when, why, and how technology is used to support our students in loving learning and growing their knowledge and skills in the most positive way possble.
Rather than asking “Should we use technology?” this session reframes the conversation around more powerful questions:
- What learning experiences truly matter?
- When does technology amplify thinking—and when does it replace it?
- How do we design learning environments that are both deeply human and technologically enhanced?
Participants will leave with extensive research and background knowledge about the learning process and the impact of technology on it, a practical framework for making intentional decisions about technology use, strategies for balancing digital and non-digital experiences, and a renewed vision for reimagining classrooms in a way that meets the needs of today’s learners—without losing what matters most: HUMAN CONNECTION.
