Face it, IT is stressful, and the demands and pressure are massive and growing. This has been the case for a long time within the cybersecurity community. As a result, Mental Health Hackers (MHH) was established to educate information security professionals about the unique mental health risks faced by those in this field and provide guidance on reducing the effects of related mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, social isolation, and other mental health disorders. MHH has focused these education efforts into creating “conference villages” that offer a common place to allow like-minded individuals to share and grow as a community, to better our mental health and the health of those around us. For years, MHH has created villages at cybersecurity conferences nationwide year-round, including various BSides, regional cybersecurity conferences, and DEF CON. MHH has recognized that other sectors have felt an increasing impact of the need to focus on cybersecurity, and EdTech is no exception. K-12 schools rarely have dedicated information security teams, so the burden falls on the same overworked individuals who are trying to do everything else every single day. This is a recipe for burn out and the same issues plaguing cybersecurity. Therefore, MHH is pleased to partner, for the first time in EdTech, with HECC at the 2026 conference to deliver on its mission!
