Today’s students live in a world of constant digital stimulation, from their smart phones, to managing multiple social media accounts, to even some of the apps they use in the classroom, all while the conversation around the country & the world has turned to the impact all digital technology has on our student learning and how it makes sustained attention and deep learning increasingly difficult. This session explores how educators can redesign learning environments to better align with the modern student brain. Using insights from neuroscience and cognitive science, we’ll examine strategies for increasing engagement, reducing cognitive load, and fostering authentic learning, all with the appropriate and thoughtful use of technology to support individual student growth and development. Attendees will leave with practical tools to create distraction-aware lessons that connect more deeply with students and allow them to not only find greater success in their learning journey, but also find a greater love for the amazing process of learning and gaining knowledge and skills.
