Questions we will cover:

What is your device breakage rate?

What is you cost per student (CPS) for devices?

What is the actual life cost of a chromebook compared to an iPad?

What is the most cost effective way to maintain my devices?

How many years can I keep devices before refreshing?

My experience over the past decade serving as founder and president of K12 Tech, a leading one-to-one device repair and maintenance company, has given me a unique vantage point with which to observe a multitude of one-to-one environments across a variety of school districts throughout the United States.

My experience encompasses a broad spectrum of areas, from device repair to consultation with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) on intricate production issues, to advising educational institutions on cost-effective technology strategies, to direct partnerships with over 400 school districts.

Through these partnerships, I have gained significant insights into the causal relationship between certain strategies for successful implementation of one-to-one device programs. This case study is designed to share these insights, which have been carefully distilled from hands-on experiences along with rigorous analysis, and finally, peer reviewed by educational leaders and technology directors.

It is important to underscore the purpose of this case study; to deliver invaluable information to K-12 technology leaders. The focus is not to promote business gains for K12 Tech. Indeed, some recommendations presented here may even impact our sales negatively. However, our unwavering commitment remains to the efficient allocation of educational resources and the optimal utilization of technology in schools.
