In April 2024, a group of determined students conceived a project to repurpose a retired school bus into a self-contained recreational vehicle. Undeterred by initial funding limitations, they commenced the complex conversion in August, tackling challenges in design, electrical systems, plumbing, and fabrication. This presentation will delve into the technical aspects of the "Skoolie" build, highlighting the tools and technologies employed, and the problem-solving skills developed. Furthermore, the presentation will recount their remarkable 13-day, 6,100-mile journey across 14 states to the American West, culminating in visits to Glacier National Park and the Grand Canyon. Attendees will gain insights into the practical application of engineering principles, the power of collaborative learning, and the transformative experiences gained through this ambitious student-led initiative.
