The issue of coastal resilience is often a multi-faceted one as climate and environmental hazards affect communities beyond the immediate physical impacts and often have long-term social and economic consequences. Local community-based organizations are crucial leaders in coastal resilience planning and action to address the challenges associated with these hazards and the need to sustain livelihoods tied to the land and water.
This panel provides a platform for locally based CBOs to share insights into their experiences of working in the resilience space. The speakers will discuss the role of co-production and collaborative partnerships in their work, identified needs for funding and capacity support for comprehensive community resilience, and best practices to be considered by organizations interested in fostering meaningful and long-lasting community partnerships.
