Natural disasters have increased in frequency and severity in recent years, highlighting the urgent need for effective community resilience strategies. As the costs and damage from these catastrophic events continue to rise, it has become evident that enhancing resilience requires a comprehensive approach considering multiple environmental factors and their complex interactions within communities. This study presents an innovative approach to enhancing community resilience awareness through a multilayered youth empowerment program. A pilot program was conducted at Mississippi State University during, involving a diverse cohort of female students from engineering and construction backgrounds. The program comprised a series of educational modules focusing on infrastructure and community resilience, providing students with a foundation for subsequent research activities. A mixed methodology was employed to gather data and perform statistical analyses, allowing for a comprehensive evaluation of the program's effectiveness. Pre- and post-intervention surveys assessed changes in participants' knowledge and attitudes. Results revealed a significant increase in students' understanding of environmental science and community resilience concepts following the intervention. A key finding was the participants' heightened engagement and enthusiasm for exploring resilience-related topics further. Students expressed a strong desire to share their newly acquired knowledge within their social networks, creating a ripple effect of awareness and education. This hierarchical dissemination of content, fostered by various delivery methods, is a crucial aspect of the program's design, aiming to extend the impact beyond immediate participants. The pilot study introduces a scalable model for community resilience education that connects various stakeholders in Mississippi's resilience ecosystem. By empowering youth as future leaders in community resilience, this research contributes to the growing body of knowledge on effective strategies for building disaster-resistant communities. The potential for replication across different geographical areas and focus areas suggests that this model could have far-reaching implications for community resilience efforts nationwide. The study's emphasis on youth empowerment aligns with the broader recognition that the next generation of leaders will play a crucial role in addressing the complex challenges posed by climate change and natural disasters. This research provides valuable insights into developing effective, scalable strategies to enhance community resilience through education and youth engagement.
