Lt Col (ret) Greg “YT” Whiting, Technology Integration Cell Director/small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS) Program Manager/Texas Air Operations Chief Operations Officer/Deputy J3-Air. Manages the Texas Military Department’s sUAS program in Texas and Mobile Modular Sensor Suite (M2S2) camera/radar trucks supporting Operation Lone Star. Coordinates and manages all state aerial disaster response efforts.
Lt Col (ret) Whiting is a 1987 graduate of the United States Air Force Academy. He attended Undergraduate Pilot Training at Williams AFB, AZ and then went on to Lead-In Fighter Training at Holloman AFB, NM. After graduating F-16 Replacement Training Unit (RTU) at Luke AFB, Greg’s first assignment was Torrejon AB, Spain. He flew combat sorties in Operation Desert Storm with the 7440 th Composite Wing (Provisional) as part of Joint Task Force Proven Force at Incirlik AB, Turkey. He would finish his career at the 149 th Fighter Wing, San Antonio TX as the Operations Support Flight Commander. With numerous Air Medals for his efforts in Desert Storm and over 2,000 hours in F-16s, Greg retired in 2007.
