Entrepreneur and business executive with over 25 years of international business expertise developing, integrating, and certifying multi-mission aircraft and aerial mission equipment worldwide.
In 2019, Mr. Zimmerman invested in Phenix Solutions, Inc. with a group of entrepreneurs and aviation professionals to develop and certify a dual-purpose multi-mission heavy lift Remote Piloted Aircraft and related specialized aerial mission equipment. Mr. Zimmerman serves on Phenix’s Board of Directors as well as the Chief Growth Officer.
Previously, Mr. Zimmerman served as President & CEO of Simplex Aerospace between 2009-2020 and COO/CFO between 2001-2009. Simplex Aerospace is a leading provider of civil certified rotorcraft aerial application equipment. Simplex’s equipment is used primarily in wildland firefighting (fire suppression, proscribed burning, fertilization, bug infestation treatment, restoration), highrise building firefighting, agricultural application, utility power transmission, oil spill response, mosquito control and other aerial missions. Simplex’s systems have been in operation in over 100 countries for 75 years and are known for their quality, durability, and longevity.
Mr. Zimmerman lead Simplex’s growth and diversification through the development, certification, and manufacturing of proprietary aerial mission equipment. During Mark’s tenure, he lead the creation, development, and certification of over 30 new aerial application systems integrating new technologies to improve the safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of government agencies and civil aircraft operators fulfill their civil responsibility to their citizens and profitability of their flight operations. Mark has received two US Patents for inventions resulting from development of Aerial Fire Suppression Systems.
Mark has a degree in Accounting from Oregon State University and is a retired CPA
