After a successful career in Economic Development, Mr. Bernstein founded Builders Door & Hardware in 1986 as a “Division 8” distributor of commercial hollow metal, wood doors and hardware. By the year 2000, Commercial and Residential architectural hardware had become the main focus and the companies name was changed to Builders Lock & Hardware to better reflect the nature of the business.
Builders Lock is a factory direct distributor of high-end architectural hardware and specialties. Brands include Rocky Mountain, Baldwin, Omnia, FSB, Valli & Valli, Merit Metal, Pemko, Frank Allart, Samuel Heath, Rixson, Norton, Yale, and others.
In 2005, Builders Lock became a stocking distributor for Hoppe Multi-point locking systems. Builders Lock has made a commitment to improve availability and education for the locksmith industry to make it easier and more profitable to service the growing Multipoint lock market.
