Conference Summary*

Technical Committees of Deep Foundations Institute (DFI) are combining their industry expertise to organize a 2-day conference on the effective application of deep foundations, ground improvement, and soil mixing for stabilization of landslides and slopes and support of deep excavations.  This state-of-practice technical program will include presentations on research, innovations, advancements, and case histories supplemented with a panel discussion on the effective use of software for analyzing slope and landslide stabilization projects.

On Tuesday, August 6, the DFI Committee on Deep Foundations for Landslides and Slope Stabilization will hold a committee meeting in the afternoon. This committee meeting is open for all to attend.  In the evening, the Women in Deep Foundations Committee is sponsoring a fundraising networking event at Target Field to watch the Minnesota Twins versus the Atlanta Braves.  All attendees are invited to attend.

On Wednesday, August 7 and Thursday, August 8, industry experts will present in plenary sessions current research and technologies used to stabilize slopes and excavations, modeling and design concepts and case histories that illustrate effective application of deep foundations for stabilization of slopes and excavation support.  Challenging slope and landslide repairs and excavation support using deep foundations, tiebacks and soil nailing, ground improvement, soil mixing and slurry walls will be presented.  Equipment, material and instrumentation suppliers, contractors, engineers, and other vendors will present their services in our Exhibit Hall.
