Seminar 13: Synthetic Sports Field Management
Date & Time
Tuesday, March 4, 2025, 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Description
Instructors: Many instructors, both local and distant, have been coordinated to fill this 6 hour seminar with valuable information to to help artificial turf field managers with their day to day management and for the life of the surface. To believe that artificial surface are maintenance free is naive. Fields need to be planned and designed carefully. They need to be constructed and installed to specifications. Fields also need to be cleaned and repaired properly periodically for health concerns. As fields are used, surface materials get redistributed and may need to be redressed and groomed back with set test standards for safety. Sometimes fields may need repairs to their surface. All these procedures will be necessary to extend the field's life to fulfill expectations. Eventually, the field will need to be replaced and field managers will coordinate the removal and reinstallation of a new surface. This again will take field assessments, precise planning and scheduling to go along with major funding. There is no cutting or fertilizing but along the way there are many maintenance considerations to be prepared for. This seminar will address all these topics and more, including what might be coming in the future for synthetic turf fields.
