David Pyle is an artist, educator, writer, and entrepreneur who works at the intersection of art-making, business, and learning. He teaches in the Arts Management and Green+Gold programs at Colorado State University, offering courses like Law and the Arts, Community Engagement and the Arts, and The Perfect Intersection. Trained in music, painting, chemistry, and education, David spent over 30 years in leadership roles with iconic art material brands like Winsor & Newton and Liquitex. He also served as SVP and Group Publisher at F+W Media, guiding creative publications such as The Artist’s Magazine and Interweave Knits. His book What Every Artist Needs to Know About Paints and Colors reflects his passion for the chemistry of creativity. In 2020, he launched Pyle Creative Studio to support community art-making and creative business strategy. David is a 2026 inductee in the NAMTA Hall of Fame. His lifelong focus is helping people explore how art, science, and curiosity can shape the world.
